I like to recycle and reuse things around the house. It's part of my approach to frugal living. If there is a use for something, I tend to hang onto it instead of simply discarding it. Some say I'm a pack rat. Okay, perhaps it's true, but it saves me from spending money to acquire additional resources each time I recycle or re-purpose one of my assets.
One of the things that I don't throw away are pillows. They make excellent knee pads. Not only are they soft of my knees, but they provide soft support for my shins as well. Wearing knee pads is easier than carrying around an old pillow, so I keep pillows handy in places where I know I'll be doing quite a bit of kneeling.
Old pillows are kept in places like:
Adjacent to the wood stove for when I kneel down to load it and clean it.
Outside when wood cutting so I can kneel while working on the chain saw.
At project sites where I'll be working on my knees among stones and gravel.
Around the shop for projects that require me to work on the floor or under a vehicle or piece of equipment.
In my garage for when I do maintenance, repair or assembly tasks.
Inside my greenhouse and at the garden for weeding, transplanting and harvesting.
